Villagers get LPG stoves, cylinders

Dadadapura village in Malavalli taluk was declared the first smoke-free village of the district, with all the 200 residents distributed with gas stoves and LPG cylinders, here, on Wednesday.

Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Forum, had taken the initiative and was successful in achieving the same on Wednesday, in the presence of Nidumamidi Seer Veerabhadra Channamalla Swami, film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, and Meera Nayak.

B S Shivanna, president of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Forum said, the gram panchayat too would be made smoke-free in the future. On the occasion, Shivanna said the forum would bear the complete expenditure on educating 14-year-old Ravi, a hearing-impaired student of the village, he added.
