Sanjay Dutt to walk free in Feb

Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt –jailed for keeping a deadly Kalashnikov assault rifle ahead of the Mumbai serial blasts – is likely to walk free on February 27 from Pune’s Yerawada prison.

As the Maharashtra government maintained a studied silence on his release, Bollywood grew eager as Dutt is entitled for an early release if the prison authorities go by the manuals and grant him remission. If Hindi film industry sources are to be believed, several filmmakers have scripts ready for the actor, who has played various roles including action and comedy.

“The government has not taken any decision to reduce his sentence or give remission,” Minister of State for Home Dr Ranjit Patil said, reacting to reports about his release by end of February.

Though Dutt’s original release date is May 2016, he could be out by February if the remission due to him is counted.
