The State government will construct 13-lakh tonne capacity warehouses all across the State, Co-operation Minister Mahadeva Prasad has said.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, the minister said that loan to the tune of Rs 800 crore had been borrowed from Nabard for taking up the construction of high-storage capacity warehouses under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikasa Yojana.

He said that the State government had written to the Centre seeking permission to construct warehouses at the yards of agriculture produce marketing committees and taluk agriculture produce co-operative marketing societies under the Yojana.

The minister claimed that 177 primary land development banks in the State had come out of the red after Congress came to power. He said an additional sum of Rs 220 crore had been released from Nabard to banks with a turnover of more than Rs 100 crore.

“ The State government has allowed house building co-operative societies to purchase land directly from the owners in order to check irregularities. The necessary no-objection letter will be issued through a single-window system,” the minister added.
