Canara trails trekking project soon

 Forest Minister Ramanath Rai made an official announcement on Saturday renaming the Anshi-Dandeli tiger reserve as the Kali tiger reserve (KTR).

Speaking at a programme organised in this regard at Kulagi nature camp, Rai handed over a copy of the notification renaming the tiger reserve to Srinivasalu, the KTR director and chief conservator of forests (CCF). Rai said ‘The Great Canara Trails’ project would be launched soon. Personnel who will guide trekkers will be given training.

The trekking route begins at Jog Falls in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district to Doodhsagar Falls on the Karnataka-Goa border, said Vinay Luthra, principal chief conservator of forests.
Tourism Minister R V Deshpande said ‘canopy walk’ system would be implemented in this forest also.Minister Rai inaugurated the bird festival at Kulagi nature camp.
