He isn’t shy of any medium and calls himself a greedy actor. It is not the greed for money, but a meaty role that pulls him to get into the skin of the character.

Be it theatre, television or Bollywood, Namit Das has been on all these platforms and his latest exploration is the digital space where he made his debut in a short film Jangle Bells which is produced by Connect 1, digital arm of Mukta Arts Limited.

According to the actor, this is the most exciting phase for the entertainment industry because digital medium has given an unbiased platform to creative ideas and exceptional talent. “Entertainment is changing its quotient now. Because it is digital, the quality has to be the best because the remote control is in the hands of the audience who can click to other content if you don’t give them the best,” Das tells Metrolife.

“What has happened because of digital revolution that the market is not only full of opportunities, but also many ideas can co-exist. The future of entertainment is exciting and it is the best time to be an actor,” he adds.

At the same time he also feels that attention span of viewers on digital span is so less because of multiple options available, in this extremely competitive space, content is going to be the king. “When so much material is coming on the internet, a lot of it will be for the sake of grabbing hits. But if your material and script is exciting, everything will fall in place.”

The 31-year-old actor has featured in films like Ankhon Dekhi, Wake Up Sid and is best known as “Sumit” of TV series Sumit Sambhal Lega. Apart from this, he has acted in several TV commercials and plays.

“I want to be seen everywhere and don’t believe in restricting myself to one medium. I just can’t afford to do that because I need to run my house. The market has diversified and why should I be afraid of television?” he says.

He is all set to surprise his fans with his vocals as he is planning to form a music band. “I want to pursue singing. I am private about this, but now I want people to know about it,” he says.

“Trying different things and challenging myself gives me extreme satisfaction and at the same time exclusivity. Otherwise I would be a part of the clutter. In order to stand on your own, you have to find your own voice,” he adds.
