The 110th anniversary celebrations of St Joseph’s Indian Institutions came to colourful end on Tuesday with a cultural festival ‘Payana’ marking the event.

Bangalore Archbishop Bernard Moras, who inaugurated the event, said there was a need to maintain communal harmony. The belief that “we are supreme” is what leads to a lot of issues, he said.

Praising St Joseph’s Institutions for their services for over 110 years, Moras said, “The institute has come to the rescue of those from the economically weaker sections and provided them with quality education.”

Kannada actor Kumar Bangarappa and former India cricketer Roger Binny, both alumni of the institutions, also participated in the anniversary celebrations. In his speech, Bangarappa said that it was on the same grounds he once played where he had been felicitated today.

“Some moments in life are so special you cannot forget them. This is one such moment. I will never forget this day when I am being felicitated by my teacher.”
