The High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on a batch of petitions challenging the reservations for the upcoming zilla and taluk panchayat elections.
More than 100 petitions have been filed in the High Court questioning the legality of the reservation matrix for the Panchayat polls. Some have challenged the validity of amendment brought by the State government to Section 162 of the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act, limiting reservation rota to 10 years for zilla panchayat seats.
The petitioners have claimed that the Supreme Court has granted a stay on the amendment.
Justice S Abdul Nazeer reserved the orders.
