People's problems

Last Updated 25 March 2018, 19:39 IST

 BBMP's no action
It is to bring to the notice of the authorities concerned about the menace of garbage dumping we face. Waste is dumped close to our apartment but it has not been cleared for several months now. The piling up of the garbage is a regular affair and needs a consistent and permanent solution by BBMP.
We have taken several steps to get it cleared like- raising a complaint through the 'Fix My Street' app, submitting a written complaint at the BBMP's corporate office and even sent pictures of the mess through the 'Clean Bangalore' app. But there was no action taken.
The exact problem spot is – 4th Cross, Arehalli, near Abbaiah Naidu Studio, close to Shriram Adithya Apartment, Banashankari 3rd Stage, Bangalore.

Train stop at Whitefield
A stop at the Whitefield station will benefit several passengers travelling from Chennai to Bengaluru and vice versa. The change for Lalbagh and Brindavan expresses (Train No 12607/12608,12639/12640 respectively) will help the IT sector crowd staying in and around Whitefield.
At present passengers change trains at K R Puram station. However, the metro work from K R Puram to Kadugodi creates traffic jams increasing the travel time.
Hope the SWR authorities will do the needful.

BU mismanaged
I am a student of BA Music course at Bangalore University of 2012-2016 batch. My registration number is 12Q9A71006. However, I have not received marks card for 5th and 6th semesters and the convocation certificate. I visited the Pareeksha Bhavan at Jnanabharathi campus several times in the last six months but the 'concerned person was always on leave.'
For the last one month, the reason is changed to 'server is down.' I have noticed that this is the case with scores of other students as well. Will the authorities concerned look into the matter and do the needful?
In Bangalore University, passing the exam may not be difficult but getting the marks card is a big ordeal.

Garbage dumped in heaps
A huge pile of garbage is dumped on the busy Attiguppe ward, 14th Main Road, creating an unhealthy atmosphere and an eyesore. This happens because there is no proper collection of garbage on the streets 14th B, C and D crossroads. The residents have no option but to dispose of the garbage on the main road.

BMTC smoke & other issues
I see a lot of vehicles like trucks and BMTC buses emit clouds of black smoke on my face. Why aren't these vehicles suspended for non-maintenance?
Some of the privileged can use a mask but what about the youth and elderly who are forsaken by the concerned authorities to inhale the black poison.
Then there is the issue of BMTC drivers gobbling away money stating non-availability of change. Why can't we buy tickets using services like Paytm? There is provision for Axis Bank cards but what about those who have cards of other banks?
BMTC charges according to stages which have strategically defined non-uniform distances on each stage so as to loot the common man. Is the corporation proud of being the most expensive government bus fare system in the country? Should public transport be out of reach even for the poor?
Badly planned manhole lids are also an important issue. Lids covering the holes are not on the level of footpath but slightly raised like a bump. One night I hit such a similar manhole but somehow balanced myself from falling on the road where a passing vehicle could have crushed me.

Bridge work left hanging
The bridge in Halasuru is an example of the state of affairs in the area. The concerned authorities are requested to take the required action help the majority of residents who use the bridge every day.

Dilapidated Sanjay Nagar Main Road
Sanjay Nagar is a fast developing suburb. The traffic on Sanjay Nagar Main Road has increased exponentially over the years. However, the road is left in a pathetic condition with potholes and road cuttings. The laying of GAIL LPG pipeline has created chaos on all the roads in Sanjay Nagar. GAIL just dug up the whole place leaving gaping holes in the road. Recently the BBMP relaid all the roads in Sanjay Nagar except the main road to clean up the mess created by GAIL. Within no time the BWSSB again dug up the road for replacing sewerage lines. Attached is the photograph of the main road in Judicial Layout, Sanjay Nagar.
This proves the lack of coordination between two civic bodies. Only a few months back BWSSB dug up the roads, then it was the GAIL's turn and now it is again the BWSSB's doing. The constant digging results in hazardous dust pollution creating health problems for the residents. Enormous time and money can be saved and problems could be avoided if the departments work in coordination to plan and execute the work.

Drains blocked
Workers of nearby construction site have blocked drains on both the sides with construction materials, stopping the sewage water from flowing freely. The problem is on the site No 14, 5th cross, 1st Main, Krishna Layout, Hulimavu, B G Road, Bangalore-77 (near Jayappa borewell water supply point). Sadly, the authorities are turning a blind eye towards the problem. It poses serious problems of water stagnation. The recent showers added to the woes and in every such type of incidents, the BBMP remains clueless. I raised a complaint with request No 10746408 and on social media. But in vain! The BBMP should take note of this issue and take an action as per the KMC act and clear the drains.

Railway bridge's pathetic condition
The Railways have recently repainted the steel structure while doing some patchwork of concrete-filling of all steps albeit unsatisfactorily. But the nuisance of the heap of rot lying all over the bridge across the tracks has never been paid attention to. It is no exaggeration to say that for years the Subramanyanagar residents & shopkeepers who utilize this frequently have never even bothered to inform the BBMP health authorities of this hazard.
As pointed out earlier this bridge is regularly used by parents of Cluny Convent's young kids. Malodorous stink composed of human excreta, rodents, bandicoots trotting -highly repulsive sight-all over, even animal carcasses, emanates & haunts the premises. Even after bringing the health-hazard scenario to the Subramanyanagar Samudaaya Bhavan (lying at just a stone's throw) authorities' notice a couple of times, it has not moved anybody and business goes on as usual. Of course, the sensitive ones move across with kerchiefs stuffed strongly into their nostrils!
Of late, Shri Aadarsha Yuvakasangha, Gayathrinagar, has erected a huge flex board, south-north across the road (about 30 ft by 12 ft)in Subramanyanagar side displaying temple programmes in the locality in the coming days. The board is hung with ropes and bamboo sticks with stairs of the railway bridge as support. This may anytime collapse endangering the unwitting & unwary passers-by.
One fervently hopes that the Swachh Survekshan 2018 launched by the Prime Minister (4th January to 1st March)-a mass campaign dedicated to keeping our cities clean by exhorting city corporations to provide dustbins for citizens to throw litter- will be availed by the behemoths in BBMP even at this late hour.
