Binod, a tile contractor who had suffered bullet injuries when two of his workers shot at him with a country-made pistol on Monday, is recovering in Manipal Hospitals.

“Binod is out of danger and is slowly recovering and we have obtained a statement from him. He should be fine in a couple of weeks,” said a senior police officer.

The police have intensified search operations to arrest the suspects – Manish and Mukesh – who hail from Gwalior and are absconding.

There are alerts that the duo could be at Palamner in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. A special team has been sent there to arrest them and the City police are in touch with thier counterparts in the other state.

The Gwalior police have also been alerted about the two and the country-made pistol, said the officer.

The police are ascertaining the source of the pistol and bullets. Based on reports that the suspects bought the weapon in Madhya Pradesh, a special team has been sent there, he added.

There was a dispute between Binod and Mukesh regarding financial matters about three months ago. Binod and his associates had beaten up Mukesh, who vowed to take revenge. Mukesh went to his native recently and brought his brother, Manish, back with him. The two plotted the attack, invited Binod for a talk at their house and executed the plan, said the officer.

The attack took place around 1.30 pm at Mukesh’s house at Shanthinagar in Ramamurthynagar under the KR Puram police limits.

Binod was rushed to a local hospital and was later moved to Manipal Hospital. The suspects absconded along with the weapon after the attack.
