JOIN USSix people including two children were killed on the spot when a car they were travelling in collided head-on with a goods vehicle near Jalsinghi Cross around 20 km from Humanabad on Sunday.
The police have identified the deceased as Lakshmibai (60), Basavaraj (40), Sharanamma (30), Sharanamma Mahadurappa (50), Chandramohan and Mahantesh (both aged six).
Basamma Shanthaveerappa, who was injured grievously in the accident, was shifted to Kalaburagi for treatment.
All the victims hailed from Rewagi and Hebbal villages of Chittapur taluk in Kalaburagi district. They were returning after a visit to Hallikhed in Humanabad taluk when the accident occurred. The driver of the goods vehicle fled the spot, the police said.
Superintendent of Police Prakash Nikam and senior police officials visited the spot.
