
Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and his Pakistan counterpart A A Chaudhry are likely to meet in Islamabad next month to restart of stalled dialogue between the two countries.
Jaishankar and Chaudhry are likely to discuss modalities and schedule of the meetings of the senior officials under the Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue, as New Delhi and Islamabad agreed to call the bilateral engagement after resumption.
New Delhi’s new envoy to Islamabad, Gautam Bambawale, met Pakistan Prime Minister M Nawaz Sharif’s National Security Advisor Naseer Khan Janjua on Monday.
Pathankot attack
Sources said that Janjua and Bambawale had a discussion on Pakistan’s action on Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists, who had coordinated the attack on the Indian Air Force base at Pathankot in Punjab.
The foreign secretaries were earlier scheduled to meet in Islamabad on January 15, but the meeting was postponed in view of the terror attack in Pathankot.
