Wild jumbos camp near MLA's residence

A herd of three wild elephants camped near the residence of Madikeri legislator Appachu Ranjan in Somwarpet on Wednesday.

The wild jumbos were found close to the coffee estate in Kumburu village where the house of the MLA is located. Since the main gate of the estate was locked, the elephants were unable to move out.

The incident came to light after the driver of MLA’s vehicle, Suresh, came to work in the morning and opened the gates. As soon as Suresh opened the gates, the jumbos charged towards him and a frightened Suresh took to heels. The jumbos proceeded towards Jambur coffee estate.

The legislator said that he was frightened by the incident and the matter had been brought to the notice of forest officer concerned.
