Kejriwal to lead rally in B'luru on Jan 31 against MV rule on DL

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will lead a rally organised by the party here on January 31 demanding abolition of a Motor Vehicle rule that mandates 8th Class pass for obtaining auto driving license.

Kejriwal was admitted to the Jindal Nature Cure Institute on the city outskirts yesterday for undergoing naturopathy treatment for the next 10 days.

AAP Karnataka Co-Convener Siddharth Sharma told reporters here that as per the Constitution, no educational qualification was required to become a corporator, MLA, MP or even Prime Minister.

According to AAP, the present Parliament has close to 13 per cent MPs who are just 10th class passed and below, and almost 25 per cent have not studied beyond 12th Standard.

Pointing out that on December 29, on account of sustained pressure the central government released a draft notification regarding education qualification for auto driver license to alter the rule and invited objections from members of the public, Sharma said this amendment however defeats the purpose by not removing the 8th class pass requirement.
It only provides some exceptions which "make no sense" and will only lead to more harassment and corruption, he added.

AAP also said it has already filed objections to the draft notification.
