A Delhi Police Head Constable, 57, posted at outer Delhi’s Pitampura police lines committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope.

Police have recovered a suicide note near the body in which the deceased, Rajvir Singh, has blamed his two sons for his death.

“Singh was unhappy with both of his sons. He didn’t like the way they treated him and also the fact that they had started to drink heavily. Singh often had altercation with both of his sons at home which upset him a lot. After being fed up with them he might have take such an extreme step. We have also recorded the statement of his family members,” said a police officer.

Unhappy with sons
According to police, Singh’s two sons, Praveen, 29, and Devender, 26, were doing private jobs. While Praveen is married, Devender is not.

“Singh also didn’t like the friend circle of both of his sons and believed that their friends were responsible for their bad behavior,” the officer added.

Singh was living in southwest Delhi’s Haridas Nagar with his family. On Thursday night, he spoke to his wife after dinner like he normally did and then went in the cowshed, built outside his house, to sleep, said police.

“Next morning, when Singh’s wife went to the shed to wake him up, she got shocked to see her husband’s body hanging with a rope which was tied with a hook in the ceiling,” said a police officer.

Singh’s wife informed the police.

The police arrived on spot and brought down Singh’s body which was then taken to the Rao Tula Ram Hospital for postmortem.

Post the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family members and his last rites were performed.

Police are questioning the family members and neighbours in the case.
