Focus on work culture, says Prasanna

Theatre person and writer Prasanna said the upper crust of the society should become the working community for the development of the society.

Taking part in a discussion programme on his books ‘Shudraragona Banni’ (Let’s become Shoodras, the working class) and ‘Susthira Baduku’ (Sustanable living) in the city on Monday, he said, “Backward communities have always been the working class. This class is also associated with agriculture. This should change. Caste should not be involved in this and more than anything else, we should focus on work culture.”

Prasanna said socialism has both cultural and political responsibilities. Normally, the political facet of socialism is given importance. Cultural responsibility implies being close to nature. Along with elimination of poverty, awareness should be created on the cultural rights and obligations among the people belonging to working class. They should be trained in leadership qualities. This task should not be done as a political work, but as a creative work, he felt.

He lamented that machines and money are ruling people in the existing political system. University College Principal Uday Kumar Irvattur and writer Chansdrakala Nandavar were present.

The programme organised by Sahamatha Film Society, Kannada Sangha, University College and Karavali Lekhakiyara Vachakiyara Sangha at Ravindra Kala Bhavan in Hampankatta.
