19-year-old girl's body found floating in college well

The body of a 19-year-old girl student was today found floating in a well of a private college hostel at Mettupalayam in the district.

Some security staff and students noticed the body of Divya, doing her second year B.Com (CA), in the early hours today and immediately alerted college authorities, who in turn informed police.

Fire and Rescue Service personnel along with police, retrieved the body, which had bleeding injuries on nose and ears, police said.

Police has recovered a letter purportedly written by the deceased, who was staying in the hostel, from her room and further investigations were on, they said.

The parents of Divya, a resident of a village near Kothagiri in Nilgiris District, were informed, even as the body was brought to the Government Hospital here for post-mortem, police said.
