Providing fusion food, with tashan

Limited dishes on the menu, good food and a relaxing ambience are some of the key highlights of the newly opened restaurant Tashan in Greater Kaliash (GK) II of South Delhi.

One might confuse the name of the restaurant with tashan (attitude) and associate it as the theme of the restaurant, or some quirky feature that it offers. But the entire tashan of Tashan is in its fusion food. The calm lights, comfortable seating arrangements and welcoming staff of the restaurant are mere additions to it.

All visitors are treated with smiling faces. When one finds it difficult to find a peaceful place in the busy market of GK II, Tashan, with its soft music and peaceful ambience is the place to be.

With their target audience as people who know what good food is, owner Akshay Adya has tried not to confuse people with a lot of dishes on offer.

They offer contemporary Indian cuisine with Thai and Chinese influences. With Chef Jitin Kapur, they have tried to ideate and create dishes after a lot of imagination.

Interesting combinations, such as baked rumali roti with tomato sauce as snacks with drinks, mushroom mayonnaise with wasabi prawns and more are a few surprising concoctions. Besides, Lasooni Onion Soup and Rasam Da Tashan, Jack in a pocket, Tandoori Gobhi, Tashani Soya Tocco and Kadak Seekh Kabab are some of the best picks.

They have also tried to innovate with desserts by providing options such as Bhuni roti ka Halwa and Jor bagh ka Affogato.

Despite a limited number of offerings on the menu, they keep changing on it periodically. In March, they will serve Mojito Kulfi for desserts, which will be interesting mix of Bacardi in the
traditional kulfi.

With around 15 days since its entry into F&B, Tashan is trying to improvise and innovate according to the feedbacks given by the guests, which including Metrolife’s, are fairly positive.
