Solving the parenting puzzle

Family app

Raising a child can be an arduous task for working parents, especially mothers, as it is she who is responsible for many things — starting from taking decisions on schooling, to discipline issues and even planning holidays — besides managing her own career and home. So, to help them organise things and manage their everyday tasks, Mycity4kids recently launched a family app in India”.

Called the ‘‘mycity4kids Family Organizer’, the app aims to bring parents on the same page as far as their kids’ daily lives are concerned, while creating a platform where mothers can get answers to parenting queries.

“The understanding of how stressful and often challenging it is to bring up a child was the sole inspiration behind this enterprise. We wanted to be a helping hand for mothers who already have so much on their plates. We’d like to do our part in ensuring that the job of parenting never overtakes the joy of parenting. The app facilitates this by bringing the family together and enables #ParentingFromTheSamePage,” says Vishal Gupta, co-founder and MD,, an online platform that helps multi-tasking mothers manage the task of modern-day parenting better.

Currently available on the Android platform, since the app’s launch four months back, it has already had over 35,000 downloads. It offers features like family calendar, to-do-lists, upcoming events, kids resources and parenting blogs that parents can access on the go.

“Mycity4kids app is also the largest content and discovery platform for parents, presenting them with valuable information and learning from the best parenting blogs to local kids’ events and resources. Easy-to-use and colour-coded for each member, the Family Calendar helps parents record all the kids’ activities along with own schedules in one place. It helps them add appointments which both of them can see, assign responsibilities and set reminders. Parents also get a family agenda for the upcoming week through email, add a specific event to the family calendar and share a specific event in their network,” Gupta tells Metrolife.

Further, the to-do list allows parents to create separate checklists for school and after-school activities, class birthdays, fee reminders, vaccinations and other things.

“Parents can discover current events and workshops in the city that are relevant to their kids’ age and the locality they live in, under the Upcoming Events option. Lastly, the Parenting Blogs section offers the most contemporary and comprehensive parenting content from more than 750 mothers and experts to draw learnings from, or validate their own parenting style,”he adds.
