Mangaluru TT player to participate in international school tourney in Israel

City athlete wins bronze at national c'ship

Karan Gollerkeri will represent the country at the International School Games Championship in table tennis at Eilat, Israel, from April 2 to 8.

Karan is a student of II year at St Aloysius Pre-university College and had, earlier, won the national-level tournament at Telangana in January.

His passion for the game started developing at the age of 12 years and, since then, Karan has competed in several state-level tournaments held by the Karnataka Table Tennis Association. He has also competed in the inter-district tournament held by the Karnataka Board of Education at Banahatti, North Karnataka, and has been representing the State for the last five years.

He attributes his success to his parents, especially his father, who encouraged him all through, to pursue his dream.

Athletics bronze
Venissa Carol Quadros bagged three bronze medals at the National School Athletic Championship recently.

A student of St Aloysius PU College, Venissa represented Karnataka State at the 61st National School Athletics Championship at Kozhikode, Kerala, and secured bronze medals in the 400mtrs sprint, 400mtrs hurdles and 4x400mtrs relay.
