Phone found in central jail

A mobile phone was found in the corridor outside a high security cell in Parappana Agrahara Central jail during a routine check carried out by the jail officials in the early hours of Sunday.

A jail official said that it was a routine check carried out between 10 pm on Saturday and 2:30 am on Sunday. “As we were going around checking the cells, we found a mobile phone lying in the corridor outside a high security cell. We handed over the phone to Parappana Agrahara police  and lodged a complaint.”

“It was found outside the cell where jail inmates, who are booked for high profile cases, are lodged. We are trying to find the owner of the mobile phone and how it was smuggled in. We were tipped off that several inmates were using phones despite jammers. All these issues are being looked into and an intense check will be carried out,” he said.

The Parappana Agrahara police said they are analysing the call details of the phone number, like who made the calls and to whom. There is not much data stored in the mobile phone. But after analysing the records, we can tell who was using the mobile phone and for what purpose.
