Spectrum intrusion seen in Gujarat, Haryana circles, says Vodafone CEO

The 5mHz band spectrum of Vodafone has been getting a lot of interference in various belts like Gujarat and Haryana, said Sunil Sood, CEO and MD Vodafone in an interaction with Deccan Herald.

“We don’t know what the problem is. It could be Pakistan, could be defence. All we know that is, various tests conducted by us have shown a lot of interference in that 5mHz band spectrum. It is not in our jurisdiction to find out who these intruders are. We have filed a court case in this regard,” said Sood. He added that it is governments duty to provide them with clear spectrum.

“The cost associated with buying the spectrum is very high. It is government’s duty to provide us with clean spectrum before we buy it,” he said.

On net nuetrality he said that we at Vodafone believe in open internet. “It is very clear. We believe in open net. We believe in net nuetrality. Rest it is upto government to decide whether they want to allow some kind of sampling or not,” he said.
