Last Updated 14 February 2016, 18:47 IST

If the poor voter turnout in Saturday’s Hebbal bypoll (44.48 per cent) is bad enough, a look at the ward-wise break-up reveals that the polling percentage in Radhakrishna ward is abysmally low at 36.61 per cent.

According to ward-wise break-up of voters’ turnout compiled by political parties, JC Nagar ward in the Hebbal Assembly constituency clocked the highest poll percentage at 48.8 per cent.

Polling percentageThe polling percentage in other wards is as follows: Sanjaynagar (42.51); Ganganagar (46.96); Hebbal (46.44); V Nagenahalli (46.94); Manorayanapalya (47.64) and Gangenahalli (45.79).

The low voter turnout has triggered a debate as to which party would tend to benefit. Congress functionaries claimed that as three wards - JC Nagar, V Nagenahalli and Manorayanapalya - with their large number of minority voters clocked relatively better poll percentage the party tends to benefit.

BJP sources said the party stood a good chance of winning the poll as it had done well across all wards.
