Three students among five arrested for assaulting bouncer

Five youths were arrested for assaulting a bouncer at a lounge bar on Lavelle Road on Saturday night. The bar staff caught all the five before they could escape and handed them over to the Cubbon Park police. 

The suspects were identified as Suraj (25), an MBA student from Nagarabhavi, Arjun (19), Suraj (23), both engineering students from Nagarabhavi, Madhusudhan (24), son of a contractor at Abbigere and Keerthi (24), a resident of Vijayanagar. 

According to the police, all of them went to Margarita Lounge Bar at 7.30 pm and kept drinking till 11.30 pm at the counter. The bar staff asked them to leave as they began using foul language, but they did not pay heed. The staff directed Ashraff Pasha, the bouncer, to vacate them. Suraj picked up a beer mug and hit Pasha’s nose when he attempted to vacate them. Pasha raised an alarm and collapsed on the floor. The staff rushed to his rescue, caught the youths and alerted the police. 

They rushed Pasha to Mallya Hospital where he is being treated for a fractured nose, said the police.

All five youths have been booked under IPC Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), added the police.
