JOIN USThe Pulincha award will be awarded to Mijar Annappa, Dr Kolyuru Ramachandra Rao, Kumble Sundar Rao, Bottikere Purushottama Poonja, K H Dasappa Rai, K Anantaram Bangadi, Kepu Gowda and Mular Padma Pambada.
The award is given by Pulincha Seva Prathishthana, in commemoration of Yakshagana artiste late Pulincha Ramaiah Shetty.
Addressing mediapersons in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Pulincha Seva Prathishthana President Shridhara Shetty Pulincha said that the awards will be presented at the Pulincha Ramaiah Shetty commemoration programme to be held on Kalladi Vittala Shetty Vedike at Chende Sri Karanika Kallurti Diavasthana in Balthila village of Bantwal Taluk on February 20 at 7 pm. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will present the awards, he said.
“Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri Chairman Dr M Mohan Alva will release the souvenir on the occasion. Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Dashavatara Yakshagana Mandali Convener Kalladi Deviprasad Shetty will light the lamp. Hosa Diganta Kannada daily CEO Prakash P S will preside over the programme. Senior Yakshagana artiste Dr M Prabhakar Joshi, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLA Shakuntala Shetty, former Minister Krishna J Palemar and Balthila Gram Panchayat President Vittal Naik will be the guests,” said Shridhara Shetty Pulincha.
A Yakshagana play ‘Shanishwara Mahatme’ will be staged at 2 pm. Also, a documentary on Pulincha Ramaiah Shetty will be screened. The Tulu Yakshagana ‘Koti Chennayya’ will be performed by the artistes of Bachakere Sri Durgaparameshwari Yakshagana Mandali, Sarapadi, at 9.30 pm, he added.
