Man suspects wife of infidelity, slits her throat

A BMTC bus driver murdered his wife over an affair at his house at Mangammanapalya and informed the Madiwala police about it on Sunday night. The police arrested Afsar, 55, for murdering Afifa, 35. Afifa was Afsar’s second wife, while Afsar was her second husband, said the police.

Afsar had married Afzal Banu about two decades ago and had four children from her. The couple separated after they developed differences and Afsar married Afifa about one-and-half-years ago, said the police.

A few months after the wedding, the couple developed differences as Afsar began to suspect Afifa’s fidelity. He suspected she had an affair with his neighbour, an autorickshaw driver, and believed they would meet at his house once he left for his night shift. He had even warned her and asked her to stop the affair, the police said.

The couple had a fight over the issue on Sunday night and Afsar slit her throat when Afifa was fast asleep. After a while, he called up the police and informed them about the murder. The police rushed to his house and detained him.

He claimed that he murdered his wife as he suspected she had an affair with the autorickshaw driver, the police said.
