Last Updated 22 February 2016, 19:28 IST

The Supreme Court on Monday gave a court in Ahmedabad to give its judgment in a case pertaining to the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre in which former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri and 67 others were killed.

A bench of Chief Justice T S Thakur and Justice U U Lalit said there was no restraint on the trial judge to pronounce the verdict and granted him three months for the same.

The court passed its order on an application filed on behalf of senior advocate Harish Salve, acting as amicus curiae in the case.

Out of the nine riots cases investigated by former CBI director R K Raghavan headed SIT, judgments have been delivered in seven cases while in one case hearing has been concluded.

The apex court is monitoring the cases.
