A 25-year-old driver threatened to jump off the third floor of a building in Malleswaram on Wednesday morning.

According to police, Vinay went to the third floor of Bangalore Neuro Centre in Malleswaram and sat on the chajja (lintel) of the third floor and threatened to jump to death. The public alerted the staff at the neuro centre, who informed the police.

The police said that a few constables rushed to the spot and along with the public tried to convince Vinay to come down, but in vain. Vinay insisted that he would come down only if the inspector comes to the spot.

Pulled to safety
The inspector arrived and on the pretext of giving him a water bottle, he held Vinay’s hand and pulled him to safety. When questioned, he claimed that he was a driver of a Tempo Traveller vehicle and a resident of Attibele, police said.

A senior police officer said that around 10.30 am, Vinay parked his vehicle near Nagasandra near Peenya. He went to the Peenya Metro station and consumed some tablets.

The security guard at the station found him lying on the floor. Vinay was shifted to KC General hospital in Malleswaram in an ambulance. The doctors there made him vomit the tablets. Vinay was asked to rest, but he managed to give the slip to the nurse and escaped from the hospital.

He went to the neuro centre and threatened to jump off the building. It is learnt that he recently married a girl he was in love with. But Vinay started behaving strangely. So, his in-laws asked their daughter not to stay with Vinay. This upset him. “We have informed Vinay’s family members and he has been admitted to Victoria Hospital,” the officer said.
