Life term awarded to history-sheeter

The sixth Additional District and Sessions Court on Saturday, awarded life
imprisonment to four convicted of murder of Congress party leader from Mandya, in Mysuru.

Shivakumar alias ‘Danger’ Shiva, a history-sheeter, Dileep Kumar, Ramachandra and Basavaraju are the convicted.

The prime accused will have to pay a fine of Rs three lakh, while the remaining will have to pay Rs 10,000 each. Of the total fine amount, Rs one lakh each should be paid to the deceased Nagendra’s wife Vidya and their son, as relief.

The court had found the accused guilty, during the judgment on Thursday.
The quantum of punishment had been reserved for Saturday.

The case

Nine years ago, Nagendra, a Congress leader from Mandya district, had come down to Mysuru to visit his son studying at Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala in Yadavgiri. It was at that time, the accused, armed with lethal weapons had carried an murderous assault on Nagendra. Nagendra, who was admitted to B M Hospital, had succumbed two days after the incident.
