I'm minister not because of Siddu, says Prasad

Speculations that the Congress high command may rejig the Siddaramaiah Cabinet appear to have caused ripples in the State Council of Ministers.

Revenue Minister V Srinivas Prasad on Tuesday lost his cool when media persons sought to know whether the chief minister would drop him from the Cabinet and retorted that Siddaramaiah was not responsible for him to become a minister. “Siddaramaiah is not responsible for my becoming a minister. I am senior to Siddaramaiah,” he added.

The minister was speaking to the media at the Vidhana Soudha.

“I was minister in the Ataj Behari Vajpayee Cabinet. I have immense political experience and I have remained clean throughout my career. It is a matter of pride for the Siddaramaiah Cabinet if I am a part of it,” Prasad said.

Prasad also hit out at former Congress MP A H Vishwanath who recently issued a statement holding Prasad responsible for the Congress’ poor show in the Mysuru zilla panchayat polls. “Who is he (Vishwanath) to question me?” Who gave him the authority to comment on others?” he asked.

“Vishwanath is always after publicity. He will do anything for publicity. If not anything, he will start commenting on the members of his own family,” the minister said.
