Krishi Mela in Kushalnagar from today

2.5 lakh farmers from across the State to take part in the fair

The State-level two-day agricultural fair, organised by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), will be inaugurated at Jatra Maidan in Gundu Rao extension, Kushalnagar, on Thursday.

The entire town is decorated with banners, buntings and arches for the purpose. It is being organised at a cost of Rs 1 crore. The stage is being put up at a cost of Rs 29 lakh. The width of the stage is 2,400 sqft while 21,600 sqft is reserved for the audience.

The stage has been set up under the guidance of Arameri Kalancheri mutt pontiff Shanthamallikarnuna Swami.

Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will grace the inaugural programme. District In-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will preside over the programme, MLA and the Working President of the Organising Committee M P Appacchu Ranjan and SKDRDP Executive Director Dr L H Manjunath will be present.

SKDRDP Regional Director Mahavira Ajri said around 2.5 lakh farmers from across the State are expected to take part in the agriculture fair.  Various art troupes will present cultural programmes on all the three days of the festival.

A colourful procession will be taken out from Gayatri Kalyana Mantapa premises to the programme venue prior to the inaugural session.

Eight interactive sessions will be held on traditional crops of Kodagu, sanctity of river Cauvery, mechanisation of agriculture, dairy farming, government schemes, alternative crops for tobacco, horticultural crops and agricultural market.
As many as 150 chefs from Belthangady will prepare and serve food to the participants.
