Many IPL fans are slipping into a pair of shorts this season to beat the heat.

It’s summer and the IPL is in full steam. Sporting shorts is one of the hottest trends during this IPL. Men and women are making a style statement in hot shorts.

“It’s too hot and the best way to beat the heat is to come in a pair of shorts,” is the familiar refrain.

Metrolife noticed that every third person attending these matches team a simple pair of shorts with a T-shirt or a top. It’s fashion at its best.  Those  wearing these shorts say that the outfit has become a great way to stay cool.

And it’s not just the women, even the men have joined in. In bermudas and smart polo neck T-shirts, men surely give a tough competition to women.

Says Sajad Mahajan, director of Dream Merchants, “Shorts are perfect for a casual outing like the IPL. These are not only comfortable but also apt for stifling conditions inside the stadium.”

Nikita, a student of Christ College, wore a white pair of shorts with blue tee and colour co-ordinated her outfit  with her friend, Mansi.

“I guess shorts are no longer restricted to the beach. The City has been extremely hot and shorts really help you breathe easy,” she adds. And for those who aren’t that much into styling, the cotton pants are also a good choice. Mansi, who is a student, says, “Jeans are a big no-no, they really tend to stick to the skin when it gets hot. Also I prefer to wear light colours.”

For Ali and Tisha, comfort is the key when dressing up for an IPL match. “We have a hectic schedule through the week and one hardly gets the opportunity to dress up casually and head out. I feel the IPL is the perfect place where one can carry off this look,” says Tisha.

There were a bunch of guys, all in shorts. One of them, Aditya had the same thing to says, “These shorts keep you cool and are most comfortable. I really can’t think of wearing anything else to a match.”

Ankit and Vishvan who had come along with  Aditya too opined that coming fully dressed is not a good option.

Bhawna Rao, a travel consultant, says that she opts to pair shorts or capris with matching sleeveless top every summer.

“This is how I always dress to work and to other places, especially in summer. I make sure that I go home early from work and change into a pair of long shorts before coming to the match. It’s the best thing to wear in summer,” she wraps up.
