This is the first dengue death case reported in Dharwad district.
Saraswathi, who had severe fever was admitted to the SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital at Sattur, near Dharwad on May 26. But she did not respond to the treatment and succumbed to the disease on Friday night. The girl was a 6th standard student studying in a local government school. Belagali residents complained that the officials concerned were not taking any measures to check spread of the epidemic, though the dengue cases had already been reported from the neighbouring district like Gadag.
