AIADMK may not give tickets to tainted ministers

With the selection of candidates nearing completion, the tainted ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) MLAs and ministers are likely to be denied tickets for the May 16 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.

From involvement in anti-party activities, crimes to indulgence in violence, recently, some of the ruling party MLAs and ministers have dented the image of the AIADMK forcing Jayalalithaa to take action against them.

Party supremo Jayalalithaa came out with a clean chit after she was acquitted in disproportionate case at the Karnataka High Court recently.

AIADMK sources told DH on Friday that sitting legislator B V Ramana’s application will not be considered. He was sacked as dairy development minister and has been accused of anti-party activities.

Likewise, Sports Minister Sundararaj, who was dragged into a controversy after he inspected a girls hostel in Pudukottai district at midnight and humiliated the students, is unlikely to get a ticket as he, too, was not called for the interview.
