A Mercedes Benz which was being driven by a minor boy killed a 35-year-old pedestrian in north Delhi’s Civil Lines on Monday.

Eyewitnesses told Deccan Herald that eight minor boys as young as 10 years were in the car. The police are trying to verify this. They managed to flee, but left the car at the spot.

The police have tracked down the owner of the Mercedes-Benz C 200 Kompressor — DL 2F CM 3000. Businessman and builder Manoj Aggarwal lives with his family at Oberoi Apartments in Civil Lines. He claimed the car was with his driver.

Aggarwal also sent his driver to the police station. But on being questioned, the driver confessed that he was being framed.

The businessman’s son has been apprehended.

The victim has been identified as Siddharth Sharma, a resident of White House Apartments in Civil Lines.  He was a business consultant by profession. The incident occurred around 9 pm near Ludlow Castle School.

Sharma was dropped off at Sham Nath Marg by his college friend who was sharing a taxi. He is assumed to have picked up some noodles from one of the stores near the traffic signal and was walking back home.

“While crossing the road at that junction, he was hit by the speeding Mercedes,” Verma added.

The car went on to hit the road divider which led to tyre bursts on the right side. It was partially damaged and came to a halt in about 20-30 meters.

“Sharma was shifted to Sant Parmanand Hospital, where he died during treatment,” he said.
