RCB sweat it out ahead of IPL tie

The Royal Challengers Bangalore, minus South African maverick AB de Villiers, continued to sharpen their skills under lights at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here in a bid to get their bearings right ahead of their opening clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Tuesday.

The Royal Challengers, after a small warm-up session, split themselves in to two teams and played out a cricket match against each other. It was another opportunity for several players to stake a claim for a place in the XI and the young and talented Sarfaraz Khan and KL Rahul made quite an impression.

While Sarfaraz pulled out some fancy shots, playing some nice upper cuts, Rahul unleashed some big shots, slamming three towering sixes. Apart from de Villiers, who tweeted on Friday saying he’s en route to Bengaluru and can’t wait to join the team, a major absentee at the training session was the talismanic Chris Gayle.

Meanwhile, West Indies’ Samuel Badree is likely to miss the opening two games as he is recovering from a shoulder injury sustained during WT20 final.
