Air Pegasus to invest Rs 100 cr for expansion

South Indian regional carrier Air Pegasus on Thursday announced plans to invest Rs 100 crore in the forthcoming year. It plans to add more aircraft to its fleet and expanding its range of destinations.

The airline, which celebrated its first-year anniversary recently, had already invested Rs 100 crore when it began operations last year, towards fleet-building and destinations.

“With connected people, business, opportunities and ideas by making travel accessible in our first year, by flying 2,80,000 passengers with a load factor of 82%, we now intend to add more aircraft to our existing fleet to connect towns and cities in the South with each other,” Air Pegasus Managing Director Shyson Thomas said.

Air Pegasus, which has three ATR aircraft at present, will add two more within a month and has ordered five more aircraft to connect new destinations including Goa, Puducherry, Kochi, and Vijayawada, and subsequently scaling up its services to Tuticorin, Belagavi, and Rajahmundry, among others.

“The proposed investment will also help us add convenience to our passengers with better timing, apart from improved frequency for enhanced experience,” Thomas said.
