The ruling AIADMK will have a tough fight in salem as it directly clashes with the opposition DMK in eight of the 11 seats in the district, considered a DMK stronghold.
For the May 16 polls, the DMK has fielded candidates in eight seats in Salem, while giving away three others to its allies.
AIADMK will fight with Congress in two of those three constituencies and will take on the Makkal DMDK –the break-away faction of Vijayakanth’s DMDK—in one.
AIADMK will have direct fight the DMK in Salem south, Salem west; Salem north, Edappadi, Veerapandi, Omalur and two reserved constituencies of Yercaud and Gangavalli.
