Cab aggregators accused of delaying licence process
A day after the Transport department slapped notices on taxi aggregators asking them strictly not to operate with immediate effect, Ola and TaxiForSure on Tuesday submitted security deposit in the form of bank guarantee to comply with the new rule to get licence.

But, they are yet to furnish other details like GPS facility in cabs. Sources in the department informed Deccan Herald that Ola and TaxiForSure have furnished Rs 5 lakh bank guarantee, which is mandatory under the rules laid down in Karnataka On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016.

The sources further confirmed that Uber did not turn up with necessary documents, despite an endorsement sent to it a week ago to produce details like vehicle numbers, permit particulars of its entire fleet, GPS and panic button facility in cabs and also bank guarantee.
An official in the State Transport Authority said the imbroglio over the licence will be dragged further as the aggregators are delaying the process. The new rules came into force on April 2.

The official further said that the State Transport Authority, which is headed by Commissioner for Transport, with members from other departments like PWD, have to sit together to decide on whether license to be granted or not.

“The process starts with the officials concerned forwarding the file to the transport authority with an indication that the file (applicant) is fit in all aspects to get the license. But, how can we forward the file when the aggregators did not turn up with details,” the official wondered.
