Moody lauds Dhawan's work ethic

Tom Moody, the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s coach, has attended so many press-dos this IPL season that you would wonder if he is the official spokesman of the team. But then, the former Australian all-rounder always provides interesting perspective both on the mental and technical side of the game. Here are the excerpts from his media interaction on Friday.

On Shikhar Dhawan: Shikhar is no different than most other players out there. Your game goes through cycles where there are ups and downs. He is now currently on an upward curve and put together some good knocks over the last few games. The most important thing about Shikhar is the work ethic. As long as you are working hard on your game and constantly looking to improve, those cycles that are on the downward, spiral out short. Everyone goes through them and thankfully for us he is on the way up.

On SRH’s confidence as a bowling unit: We are very confident with our bowling attack and we have a number of options. When Ashish Nehra was injured Barinder Sran came in and did a terrific job. We have got the depth. But names on paper mean nothing when it comes to the contest out in the middle. It is how well you execute your plans and how consistent you are with bat or ball that determines whether you are going to win or lose a game.

On breaking AB de Villiers-Virat Kohli partnership: We just have to make sure that when those opportunities come we grab it. They got away from us in the very first game in Bengaluru but that is one venue where it is very hard to stop world class players. It is such a good batting surface and a small ground. It is a different surface here and a different-shaped ground.”
