City boy for robotic contest

Aprameya B R, a Class nine student from Bengaluru, will be among the participants at Robofest 2016, a World Robotic Championship organised by Lawrence Technological Institute, Michigan, USA.

A student of National High School, Basavanagudi, he has been undergoing training at Novatech Robo Private Limited for the last few months and has designed a sumo robot to qualify for the competition.

“The robot that I have designed will not fall and can capture images remotely. It has been designed to fight battles with other robots. In the next level of competition, I have been asked to improvise on the same model to participate in the championship,” said Aprameya. His father works as a clerk. The boy said that this would be his first experience to compete on a larger platform.

There are several groups that will participate in the championship from across the country and Aprameya is the only candidate to take part in the event from the city.
