A former Gujarat University professor has stated that there were discrepancies in the subjects mentioned in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post graduation degree.

In his social media posting, Jayanti Patel stated that the subjects mentioned by Gujarat University as part of Masters in Art degree, Part II, were not part of the syllabus during Modi’s days as student at the varsity.

“To my knowledge, there were no such papers offered in part-2 of internal or external student,” stated professor Patel who taught at the university from 1969 to 1983.

He was apparently referring to media reports that Modi had secured 64 marks in political science, 62 marks in European and social political thoughts, 69 marks in modern India/political analysis and 67 marks in political psychology.

Jayanti Patel also was quoted as saying that Modi had indeed enrolled as an internal student at the University. He went on to say that Modi would mostly be absent from the class and even when he did attend, he would abstain from taking part in most of the discussions.

Gujarat University had said the prime minister had completed his post-graduation in political science in 1983 and had scored 62.3% as an external student of the varsity.
