JOIN USA couple running an unauthorised day care centre have been arrested for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl, the Jagjivanram Nagar police said.
The child’s parents — father an auto-rickshaw driver and mother a construction labourer — left her at the centre on Wednesday and went to work. They came back around 5 pm and took the child home. The child cried incessanty and found it difficult to walk.
On Thursday, she complained of stomach ache and the worried parents took her to a hospital where doctors revealed to their shock that the child had been sexually assaulted.
The parents immediately approached the police and lodged a complaint. The police then arrested Chain Roop, 45, and his wife Sandhya, the couple who run the centre.
The couple have been booked for rape and under different provisions of the Pocso Act. The child was subjected to medical examination at KIMS.
