World long jump record holder Mike Powell unveiled the logo of the Anju Bobby Sports Foundation at a function here on Saturday.

The Foundation aims to nurture talent at the teenage level. It has plans to promote sports, encourage sportspersons, in particular track and field athletes, in order to put them on the global sports map.

The first batch of athletes at the Foundation will start training at the Sports Authority of India campus in Bangalore from June 1. The initial focus would be on horizontal jumps where Anju, the Indian record holder in long jump, and Dronacharya awardee Bobby George would be directly involved with the coaching.

The activities of the foundation, a non-profitable charitable trust, would be based in Bengaluru but it would attract talent from across the country, according to Anju, the only Indian to win a World Championships medal in athletics, a bronze in 2003.
