Two Yoga teachers awarded 'Vietnam King' title

Raghavendra Pai from Mysuru, Santosh Cheriyamane from Kodagu create record

As the world is gearing up for the second International Yoga Day in June, two yoga teachers from Mysuru region have created a record at Vietnam. The duo — Raghavendra R Pai and Santhosh Kumar Cheriyamane Anand — were confered ‘Vietnam King’ title by Vietnam Book of Records, recently.

According to a press release, Vietnam’s Om Yoga and Wellness Hub, led by Santosh along with Pai’s Sri Vedavyasa Yoga Pratishthana, Mysuru had organised the second Om Yoga and Wellness Hub Festival at Binh Duong, Vietnam.

The event created two national records — 81 yoga students and instructors performed 1008 Suryanamaskaras and a 24-hour yoga marathon. So, the president of Vietnam Book of Records Nguyen Van Vien and chief spokesperson Le Tran Truong An handed them the certificates.

The other recipients of the title are: Konanavar Somashekhara, Hebbasur Siddappa Shivappa, Dombara Ganesh, Keri Suresh Kallappa and Annigeri Shivakumar from Karnataka and Perumal Selvakumar and Palanisamy Premkumar from Tamil Nadu.

Santosh Cheriyamane from Kushalnagar in Kodagu and Nguyen Thi Thanh Van from Vietnam, co-founders of Om Yoga and Wellness Hub, have popularised yoga in Vietnam. They have established centres in three more cities in Vietnam.
