'I want to break myths, promote healthy living'

She starred opposite Akshay Kumar in the item song Balma from the movie Khiladi 786, acted alongside actors Tusshar Kapoor and Aftab Shivdasani in Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3, and now Claudia Ciesla has debuted as a writer with her new book, Keep Eating, Keep Losing: Weight-Loss Secrets (KEKL).

Published by Om Books International, the book is a holistic strategy drawn up to guide people reorganise their life by making good health an all-important goal.

“Through my experiences as a child, to my early days of modelling, and days of stardom in Bollywood, I have learned the importance of food. The ways in which it has changed me, defined me, and empowered me are immeasurable,” the model-actor tells Metrolife.

“Once I began to maintain a wholesome diet, I experienced its amazing benefits. I understood that the concept of ‘healthy living’ is the secret to a happy, content life. Topics like food, nutrition, health, fitness were always something I was passionate about. So I took my passion to a new level and today I’m a certified nutritionist,” she adds.

She, however, adds that more than an author, she sees herself as a nutritionist who intends to “break all myths, and promote healthy living and its benefits”.

Sharing details, the actor who has also participated in reality shows like Zor ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout, Comedy Circus ke Mahabali and Bigg Boss 3, says the book has three components – Healthy Eating, Exercise, and Rest, along with chapters dedicated to tips, guidelines, healthy recipes, diet charts, explanations for myths, benefits of healthy eating, exercise and rest.

“If someone has reached a dead end in their weight loss journey, this book shall assist them in finding a way back. I encourage people to say goodbye to diet fads, trends and misconceptions and rediscover a time-tested and efficient way to healthy living,” says Ciesla.

“KEKL is for those who want to lose weight, or simply stay healthy using a friendly method. It is more about changing one’s lifestyle rather than putting someone on a strict diet. For me, the priority was to make the journey enjoyable and fun for all,” she adds.

Born to Polish-German parents, Ciesla started her career in Germany at the age of 17; and before acting, she did modelling all over Europe. Later on, she says, destiny brought her to India, and she got to be a part of the Hindi film industry.

“I started my career in India with television, to be more specific, with reality shows. So before I entered Bollywood I had become popular in the television industry. Today, I’m about to launch my first book. I can truly say that my journey has been unpredictable and full of surprises. Moreover, I feel very lucky to have wonderful people around me, who support me and all my ideas,” she says.
