RTE admission: HC disposes of PIL

The High Court on Wednesday disposed of the PIL filed challengikng the rejections of 86,514 applications submitted by the economically weaker sections of the society seeking admission under Right to Educaxtion (RTE) quota without conducting proper verification.

A division bench, comprising Chief Justice SK Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath, disposed of the petition after the government submitted that elaborate advertisements were given in newspapers and radio calling the guardians of the rejected candidates to get their documents verified for the second round of lottery selection.

The government also said that eligible candidates will be considered for the second round of lottery selection. The bench directed the government to complete the selections process at the earliest and disposed of the PIL.
