Standing tall amidst Thailand's skyline

MahaNakhon, the luxury mixed-use skyscraper in the central business district of Bangkok, Thailand, has been officially completed following the handover of the residential units in April. At 314 metres, the 77-storey tower surpasses Baiyoke Tower II (304 metres) to become Thailand’s tallest building. It is only the second ‘supertall’ building to be completed in the country.

The name MahaNakhon is derived from the Thai language meaning ‘great metropolis’. The building integrates itself within its local context through the inclusion of a landscaped plaza intended to serve as a new public space, surrounded by 10,000 square metres of upscale retail and restaurants in a lush garden setting at the tower’s base.

The tower’s unique pixilated design not only allows it to stand out on Bangkok’s skyline, but also allows it to engage with its surroundings by revealing the inner life of the building within. Additionally, the pixilation integrates the pedestrian scale into the building and offers differentiated indoor and outdoor spaces.

As the tower dissolves toward the ground, its scale at the base is further modulated to form a multi-level topography of occupiable volumes and landscaped outdoor terraces, rather than the typical podium, allowing for greater connections between the building and its surroundings.

The top of the tower houses a 3-floor Sky Bar and restaurant with double-height spaces and an outdoor rooftop bar with 360-degree views.

MahaNakhon is connected directly to Bangkok’s mass transit system, enabling easy and convenient access.
