Tata Housing has announced its foray in the wellness homes segment with the launch of Serein in Thane, near Mumbai.

The company has partnered with the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification (GBCI) to develop wellness residences, in accordance with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the WELL Building Standard.

WELL Building Standard is an evidence-based system for measuring, certifying and monitoring the performance of building features that impact health and well-being.

“At Tata Housing, we believe wellness is not a quick fix, it is a way of life. Wellness only seemed like a natural progression for our company, building on the principles of innovation, quality and sustainability. We look forward to a thriving partnership with GBCI in order to achieve these standards of living,” Tata Housing Development Company Managing Director Brotin Banerjee said.

In a survey conducted by Tata Housing across metros in 2014, the company indicated that consumers, especially millennials, prefer wellness featured homes which assure only the highest standards of quality, pure air and water, and a healthy atmosphere in which they can thrive.
