Last Updated 18 June 2016, 20:45 IST

A solo play “Nakshatrada Dhoolu (Stardust)” based on the life of Hyderabad University researcher, Rohith Vemula, will be staged in the city on Sunday.

Organised by the Naavu Bharateeyaru team, the play is written by Harshakumar Kugwe, who works with the Karnataka Information Department. “The play is related to the life of Rohith Vemula. After the death of Vemula, the issue faded away and I wanted to keep this alive in the minds of people. Hence, the idea of depicting his life through a play originated,” said Kugwe.

Kugwe said he has been learning about him from newspapers and has also interacted with a few union leaders in this regard. “He kept updating his Facebook page frequently. We have tried to understand his life from that,” said Kugwe. The play would be staged by Kiran Marashettyhalli at 5 pm at the Freedom Park Auditorium on Sunday.
