Govt to sanction more PU colleges in State

The measure has been taken to accommodate 5.90 lakh students who passed in the SSLC 2009 examination.

The Government has given permission for 100 new private Pre-University colleges across the State. The existing 150 PU colleges have also been given permission to begin additional sections to accommodate surplus students.

The government PU colleges across the State have also been permitted to begin 60 sections in science and commerce courses. The minister has appealed to students and parents not to be anxious about first year PU admissions as the government had made adequate arrangements to accommodate meritorious students. It may also be recalled that the CBSE Class X results were announced on May 26, while the ICSE results were announced on May 20.

The Department of Pre-University Education (PUE) has already announced the five percent reservation of seats in the PU colleges for the CBSE and the ICSE students.
The delay in the announcement of the CBSE and the ICSE results has left the students clamouring for admissions in the PU colleges. However the PUE Department maintained that no student will be denied admissions to the PU colleges.
